Passed away peacefully in Farmington Hill, Michigan on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of the late Janet (nee Smith), who predeceased him in 2012. Son of the late Robert and Marjorie Hetrick and brother to Richard (Dick) Hetrick (Nancy) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Loving father to Scott (Sarah), David (Natalie), Brian (Julie) and Amy Hetrick and gramps to 10 grandchildren all of the Detroit area. Don enjoyed his early years in the Sault and attended Sir James Dunn (Go Eagles!) where he majored in sports, particularly football. He attended Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan where he graduated in 1966 in Mechanical Engineering then had an interesting and rewarding career with General Motors where he worked for over 30 years. His children agreed their dad’s 2 passions in life were family and hockey – a definite Canadian thing with lots of travel and tournaments. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Arrangements are being handled by the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester, Michigan 48307.
