1952-2024

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Hilary on July 5th. She left this world as she wanted, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Hilary had the biggest heart and most beautiful soul. She knew how to make everyone’s world a much better place, just by being in it. Her positive approach to life brightened every room with her smile and laughter. She was incredibly selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. She leaves behind a family and community of friends forever changed by her presence yet strengthened by her memory.

She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She shared a deep and enduring love with her devoted husband, Rob who was her partner for 22 years. Together they created a home filled with laughter, support and countless beautiful memories.

Hilary was born in Mountain Ash, Rhonda Cynon Taf, Wales and immigrated to Canada 25 years ago. She loved her life here in Canada and called it home. She was the much-loved daughter of the late Charles Harford and Patricia Harford (nee Manley); sister to the late Hazel; mother to the late Justin and to her bonus children late Robert, Brad (Sally), Pam (Chris), Ryan (Mel), and Corey. Her role as a grandmother to Aleigha and Billy, Nick, Ben and Ethan, Mike and Fearless brought her immense pride, and she doted on her grandchildren, with boundless affection.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who helped and guided Hilary through this journey and allowed her to remain at home. Your support, care, and kindness were a source of great comfort and strength to her and to us. We are profoundly grateful for your presence in her life. A special thank you to Diane who cared for Hilary from the beginning to the end. We could not have done it without you. You are an exceptional person and the true meaning of “nurse”. Thanks also to Dr. G. Stirrett and Dr. A. Nelson who were always just a phone call away.

Hilary’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her radiant smile, her loving heart, her feisty spirit, and her sense of humour.

As per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon.

Until we meet again!
