Steve Hicks, otherwise known as Hicksy, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. Survived by his lifelong partner and wife of 51 years Yvette Hicks (nee McGinnis). Will be missed by his son and best friend, Ken Hicks (Susan Kovac) as well as his daughter, fishing partner and best friend, Thea Ou-Khatouch (Mehdi). Special Grandpa to Kevin Cote, Dakota Hicks, Dylan Hicks and Tristan Babic. Great Grandpa to Tanner, Lincoln and Mylah. Reunited with his parents Russell and Eilleen Hicks and grandson Steven Gordon Cote. Will be missed by his siblings Roger Hicks (Charlotte), Iris Holenby (Phil), Robert Hicks (Yolonde), Mary-Louise Aho (late Alan), Linda Johnston (Gerry) and Patsy McCrea (Bernie). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family would love to personally thank the wonderful compassionate and caring nurse Jess and Dr. Booth from the palliative care team for their care and support they showed our family during our hardest time as well as CarePartners for their care and support.
As per Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2022. Donations made to the Cancer Care Fund would be appreciated by the family.
