Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
Loved son of the late Norman (Dutch) and Betty Honsberger. Survived by his loving sister Joan Petainen (Pekka). Uncle of Peter (Paula) and Andrew (Diana). Great-uncle of Ariana, Matthew, Andi and Jack. Lovingly remembered by his aunt Phyllis Skaggs.
Robert lived a full life. At 13, Robert was Timmy for Easter seals. In his mid 20's he went to Windsor for Special Olympics and won 6 gold medals for sharp shooting. He is a 25 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 374. Robert was the designer and the builder of the very first Bike for Life.
At Robert's request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held. Special thank you to Dr. Jarrett, Dr. Worner and Dr. Bignel. Thank you also to his good friend Dan Carmickel and Pathways Retirement Home for their kindness and compassion. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the SSM Humane Society.
