Surrounded with love, Jim Jackson left us unexpectedly on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

In a life that began and ended on St. Joe’s Island, Jim Jackson spent 91 years delighting in the world around him and giving joy to others.  Jim learned early on to appreciate what nature had to offer and he was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, syrup maker, and berry picker.  Jim loved and was loved by many. His sense of humour and his antics were legendary. He was the heart and soul of his large and happy family and contributed so much to the community on St. Joe’s Island, the Soo and in Thunder Bay.

Throughout his successful career as a leader at London Life, Jim always found time to help others, sharing his considerable talents with the Legion (Life Member of RCL Branch 374), Harmony St. Mark’s United Church, Anglers and Hunters, the Cancer Society, and the Canadian Red Cross among many others. Jim was thankful for all that he had and for the possibilities of tomorrow.

Left to mourn are his beloved wife Barb and their children Debbie, Ginny (Andrew), Shari (Mike), Tom (Holly), Doug (Andrea) and Trudi (Mike), fifteen grandchildren, an ever increasing number of great grandchildren, and his brother Dale (Debbie). Predeceased by Georgena, children Beth and John, sisters Ethel, Roberta (late Wes), Gerry (Milton), Shirley (late John), and Mary Ellen (late Chester).

A celebration of Jim’s extraordinary life will take on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11 am at the Richards Landing Legion.  Rev. Stewart Walker.  Anyone unable to attend may view the service online on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11 am. The service can be viewed anytime up to 90 days. Go to www.funeraweb.tv and select James’ name to view the service. Memorial donations to Harmony St. Mark’s United Church or NSHN Auxiliary Richards Landing Matthew’s Site would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Jackson family.
