KENNEY, Cindy ‘Melissa’ (nee Lapish)

With dignity and grace after a courageous battle, Melissa Lapish-Kenney passed away at home, Saturday, September 1st, 2018, with her loving husband, Rob Kenney and her beloved pet “Monty” by her side.  The daughter of Royce (deceased) and Linda Lapish, Melissa was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on the 7th of August, 1969.  Melissa is fondly remembered by her brother Erik (Melanie), her Aunt Debbie Archibald and her Grandfather Allan Archibald and her Aunt Marian O’Hern.  Melissa was dearly loved by her family and friends in Sault Ste. Marie and Echo Bay.  Melissa attended Wilfred Laurier University where she earned a B.Sc. degree.  It was while here that she met Rob Kenney, who became her best friend and devoted husband.  Melissa and Rob were married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica on the 3rd of July, 1999.  She was the beloved daughter-in-law of Dan (deceased) and Joan Kenney and loved sister-in-law of Kathryn Kenney (Wayne), Colleen Gemmell (Paul), Mary Lynch (Peter) and Pat Kenney (Diana).  Melissa will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.  She also enjoyed a very special friendship with her many “sisters” of the Widows’ Sons, Thames Valley Chapter.  In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life to honour Melissa will be held on the 15th of September, 2018.  Donations in Melissa’s memory may be made to Serenity House, St. Thomas or All Breeds Canine Rescue.
