Frank Kijadjiwan (Lewis) son of Robert Lewis and Mary Meawasige began his spirit journey on March 30, 2022 at the age of 90. Frank was born in Serpent River First Nation and the youngest of 5. He joins his beloved wife, Lorena and children Adele, Mark, Keith, and Rick all predeceased; he leaves behind his daughters, Cheryle (Peter) and Jackie.

Frank was a proud grandfather to 15, great-grandfather to 31 and great great-grandfather to 10.

Frank’s beloved father Robert, Zaagijiwese, began his spirit journey at a relatively young age. Zaagijiwese in the English language means, “one who guards from the outside/the perimeter.” In the years following Zaagijiwese’s passing it was commonplace to see Frank driving through our community at various times throughout the day. We, his family, see it as perhaps an inherited trait but more likely it was a son emulating a father he loved dearly.

Visitation will be at the SRFN Lifestyle Centre on Saturday, April 2 at 2pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 4 at 11am at Our Lady of the Highway Church with interment at the SRFN cemetery.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Serpent River First Nation Geka Wigwam (Elder’s Lodge). Electronic money transfers can be sent to roberta_sago@outlook.com. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME Ltd, Espanola.

Baamaapii gaawaabmin Frank.
