Passed away at Extendicare Maple View on September 19, 2024, just shy of his 95th birthday.

Predeceased by his wife, the love of his life Erika (Kuhlenbaumer) Klein in December 1999. Devoted father of Werner (Nancy) and Ralph (Barb) Klein. Proud Opa of Kurtis (Kathleen), Nicholas (Alexis) and Bradley Klein. Papa to Eric (Sara & children Madison and Anthony) and Michael Bogensberger.

Predeceased by his parents Ludwig and Anna Klein and his in-laws Wilhelm and Franziska Kuhlenbaumer. Brother-in-law to late William Kuhlenbaumer (late Hilde) and Ingrid Malet-Warden. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews in Sault Ste. Marie, Brighton UK, Cape Town South Africa and Santigo Chile.

Long time friends and travel companions late Gerhart & late Liesel Remers and Peter & Elizabeth Hagedorn who shared Hagedorn shared many adventures together. Guenther will be missed by the Remers and Hagedorn families.

Guenther was born in Mainz Germany in 1929 and immigrated to Canada in 1953. He had an interesting work life starting as an apprentice bridge builder in Germany, washing dishes in Winnipeg, grounds keeper at Minaki Lodge, cutting trees in Camp Robinson, mining in Madsen and finally a crane operator at Mannesmann Tubes (Algoma Steel). He loved to travel with his wife Erika. They put many miles on their Volkswagen Van traveling around the North America and Mexico. Their adventures took them from Alaska to Costa Rico, New York to California, PEI to BC, Germany to Italy and many places in between.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at O’Sullivan Funeral Home (Upstairs) from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The family acknowledges and thanks the caring Goulais PSWs and Nurses who provided excellent care to Guenther for the last few years, the Alzheimer Society for their visits which were his favourite day of the week and hospital staff on 3C, 2B and 1B. We appreciate the compassion received at Maple View at the time of his passing.
