October 8, 1927 - September 30, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mother, Halina Kubis, in her 97th year. She will be reunited with her late husband Chester Kubis (2008). Loving mother of Christine Kubis Biemann (Hans), Richard Kubis (Yvonne), Chester Kubis (Mary) and Donna Vittori (Tony). Adored Grandmother (Babcia) of Andrina Biemann (Ron Rose), Rick Biemann (Jeanette), Steven Marsh (Heather), Lauren DeVito (Robert), Kristopher Kubis (Tonia) and Katherine Ouellet (Kyle). Beloved great grandmother (Pra Babcia) to Leah and Isaac Biemann, Kelan and Charlotte Rose, Isla and Ezra Marsh, Alahna and Liam Ouellet, Robert and Gabriel DeVito, and Lilliane and Karissa Kubis.

Born in Lublin, Poland she survived the tyranny of the Nazi regime and a lengthy imprisonment. After the war, Aug 15, 1948 she emigrated to Canada where she married and raised her family in Sault Ste. Marie. Even though she suffered a traumatic early life, her bravery, resilience, and determination enabled her to plant strong roots in the Polish Community and her strong sense of faith was the key focus for her family at St. Andrew Bobola Parish now Holy Family Parish. She also trained many children to learn the Polish National Dances. Her culinary skills were unequalled and Babcia instilled a sense of creativity and class as well as passing down traditions that will continue for future generations.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the unwavering support of all the staff at Mauna Kaihla Koti. A special thank you to Dr. Lisa Perry, and the entire team of nurses, P.S.W.'s, essential workers, kitchen staff and administrative staff who assisted in helping Halina feel loved. The care and comfort you provided for our family during her last days will be forever cherished.

As per the families request a private funeral service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (made payable by cheque or online) to the M.K.K. or Holy Family Parish would be greatly appreciated by the family. Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
