LAWRENCE, Robert Nelson

(1913-2005) We are gathered to announce the peaceful passing of Robert Nelson Lawrence on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Plummer Memorial Hospital at the age of 92, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He grew up in Plummer, Ontario and married Leta Knight in 1934. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2004. He signed up for the RCNVR during World War II. He worked as a stationary engineer, retiring to Desbarats with his wife in 1977. He enjoyed his home and garden. He was active in the Victoria Church in Korah where he had raised his family and also in later years in Desbarats United Church. Robert is lovingly remembered by the Lawrence, Chapman, Harten and Fraser families. He is predeceased by several brothers and sisters and also survived by several as he came from a large family. He is survived by his wife Leta, daughter Arlene Harten (Emerson) of Nova Scotia and her family, daughter Penny Fraser and family of Thunder Bay and presently residing in Sault Ste. Marie. He is predeceased by his son in law James Fraser and grandson Jack Fraser. He leaves to grieve, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Special appreciation for the loving and professional care received at both Plummer and General hospitals. Friends may call at the Barton & Kiteley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, July 15, 2005 from 9:30-10:45 am. Funeral service will be celebrated in the chapel at 11 am. Rev. Ian Johnston officiating. Interment Cloudslee Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospitals or Westminster Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
