April 10, 1933-July 21, 2020 - It’s with great sadness that the family of (Helen) Patricia Leahy, announces her peaceful passing at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Catherine, Tim and Brian, her daughter-in-law Malini, and her treasured grandchildren, Eoin and Asha. She was predeceased by her dear husband Ted in 2012. The daughter of the late Patrick Mahoney and late Helen Yost (late Don). Sister of Colleen Greco (late Jerry), late Tom Mahoney (late Doris, late Donna), Karen Grady, Kevin Mahoney (Judy). Sister-in-law of late Harry (late Genevieve), late Jack (Lee), Bill (late Amy), late Paul (late Joan Anne), late Lenna Lamont (late John), Anne Taylor (Norman), Sister Jean Leahy. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews

As stylish as she was caring, Pat enjoyed a good book, a good laugh, lunch with the ladies, Delta hotel aquafit, countless bridge games and attending theatre productions. In her younger years, she enjoyed dances and curling; later in life, gardening, cross-country skiing and travel. More recently, she cheered on the Blue Jays and Team Jacobs from her armchair. Pat was happiest among family, friends and neighbours, when completing a crossword, or watching Jeopardy.

Pat had a teaching degree from North Bay Normal School and a psychology degree from Algoma University College and cherished her time teaching in local elementary school classrooms. Through the years, she also volunteered for the public library board, Christmas Cheer and the Sault Area Hospital.

Friends are invited to visit the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 between 1 pm and 3 pm (maximum 40 people allowed to enter the funeral home at a time, masks are required).  A celebration of Pat's life will be held with her extended family at a future date when it is safe for all to gather.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library or the charity of your choice.  A special thank you to Dr. Frank Ianni, Kay Reid (N.P.), Dr. Vance, Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Santana, Dr. Simard, Dr. Jadavji, Kathryn & Matthew Armstrong, Frank and Rita at Ideal Drug Mart, Pat’s dedicated personal support workers, Elna, Manjot and Kinjal, and Tamara and fellow nurses and PSWs from 1B and 3B at the Sault Area Hospital.  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
