Linklater - Edited

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father Gerry Linklater at the Sault Area Hospital on December 13, 2021, five days before celebrating his 72nd birthday.

Former husband of Madeliene, loving father of Darryl, Dwayne (Kelly), Tracy (Domenic) and Stepdaughter Kristine Henderson. Proud grandfather of Dustin, Daniel, Mathew, Andrew, Emily, Ella, Evan, Mackenzie, Lincoln, and Hannah. Son of the late George and Violet, predeceased brother of Danny, Chuck and Bonnie.  He will be missed by his Aunt Babe, many nieces, nephews, and cousins - especially Donna Crosson. Gerry treasured the special bond that he shared with Brenda and the late Rudy Dannrath.

Gerry’s greatest love was his family, he loved family dinners and being part of the everyday life of his children and grandchildren. He made a lifetime of memories on Desbarats Lake. He retired from Algoma Steel as a foreman after 36 years of dedication. He enjoyed his retirement days camping on St. Joe's Island at Fred’s trailer park. From heaven he’ll forever be cheering for his favourite team - The Toronto Maple Leafs. You could always find him drinking his Tim Horton’s coffee on the boardwalk with his friends Jojo and Rose.

A lifetime would never be enough time to love you, until we meet again Dad.

Thank you to Dr. Berry, Dr. Shafiee and the staff at the Sault Area Hospital, especially the ICU and The Renal Departments. We are so grateful for our guardian angel Robin Deschamplain and Gerry's homecare nurses Michele and Nancy. A celebration of life will take place at a later date on Desbarats Lake.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Renal Care Fund, Sault Area Hospital Critical Care Fund, or a charity of your choice.
