On the morning of September 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, Victor August Linquist passed away in his 82nd year. Born on December 23rd, 1942, of Scandinavian descent to Eino and Linda Linquist on the family farm in Plummer Additional Township.

Victor was a true family man who was kind hearted, always greeted you with a warm smile and willing to help out wherever needed. While family was his top priority, Victor was also a man of profound faith. He was a loyal friend and neighbour, and a leader at the Bruce Mines United Church. Victor was a proud employee of Algoma Steel for 36 years.

Victor is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by the love of his life Jean (nee Brunton). On August 21st, 2024, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they raised three wonderful children on the family farm in Bruce Mines, Darren (Mary Ann), Melissa (David) and Darryl (Erin). Victor was a proud Papa to Mackenzie (Nick), Tiana (Mohamad), Hanna-Liisa, Taner, Hayden and Reid. He was always interested in what his grandchildren were doing and looked forward to spending time with them.

Victor was the youngest in the family and is now reunited with older sister Miriam (late Reg) and brother Arne (Jackie). Victor is survived by his sister Eila McDonald (late Ralph). Special brother-in-law to the Brunton family Harry (Francis), Bill (late Gail), late Lloyd (Della), Judy Dixon (late John), Sharon Ledyit (Ed), late Shirley McKay (late Ralph), and Don (Jean). He will be missed by many cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Victor enjoyed fishing, camping, trips to Florida, a good game of cribbage, travel and time spent with family and friends.

A special thank you to Dad’s care team over the past year: Dr. Booth, Dr. Castellani, Dr. Apostle, Dr. Kargbo and many Sault Area Hospital and Windsor Place Retirement staff, as well as Sarah from Bayshore and Dan from Paramed.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522) on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Funeral service to follow at 1 pm with Margaret Hiddleston and Gerry Fowler officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the wonderful angels that were part of Dad’s care team at ARCH Hospice.
