August 9, 1950 - August 21, 2023

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Monte Lucas, who died peacefully at his home on St. Joseph Island. His presence has left a void in the hearts of many, but especially for Peggy Trainor, his partner in life, business and marriage for 33 fulfilling years. Also deeply mourned by his three children Brie, Matthew and Simon, their mother Twyla, and the Grandgirls Ty Marie and Peyton.

Son of the late John and Mary Lucas, brother to Kevin, John, Vernon and Aaron, who were his friends, fishing buddies, band mates, and cooking partners, MaryAnn and Anita, his loving and much-loved confidantes, and brother-in law to Jane and Dale {Number 6}. Many nieces and nephews will miss their Uncle Monte, especially his favourite.

Monte became a fixture in the hearts and around the tables of the Trainor family, Mark, Robin, Theresa, and Carol, and owes his transition from subdivision kid to country man to his brothers -in-law Jerry Nelson, David Kent and Kevin Read. His beautiful boy, Bentley, was a faithful companion and was with him at the end.

His career as an Engineering Consultant spanned 50 years and three cities. It was through his work that he met and maintained lifelong friendships with Gordon Savage, Garry Threlfall, Ray Bilivicius and especially Harvey Walsh.

"For nobody else gave me a thrill,

with all your faults I love you still.

It had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you."

Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home.
