Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the age of 81.  Loving wife of Donald Macgregor.  Caring mother of Nancy Schildroth (Terry), Murray (Patty), David, and Robert (Sarah).  Grandmother of Mark (Courtney), Leeann (Trevor), Christopher, Matthew, Emma and Duncan.  Predeceased by her parents Victor and Eleanor Cloutier.  Sister of the late Phyllis Young (late Earl), Lynne McKinley (Albert) and Wendie Ackland (Terry).  Cousin to Duncan Macgregor (Susan) and Bob Macgregor (Claire).  Dawna will be fondly remembered by Kelly Macgregor, nieces, nephews and many special friends.  For those who knew our beloved mother and grandmother, knew that she lived for her children and grandchildren.  She taught them to be kind to others and to appreciate that everyone has something special to offer. She taught them how to read, to colour, to cook and, above all, to laugh.  Dawna was affectionately known as “Smokey” by her sisters and all of the nieces and nephews.  She and her three siblings made sure that all of the cousins grew up together and we continue to have close relationships to this day.  Every family gathering included food, music, song and of course laughter.  For over 60 years, our mom and dad did everything together.  Whether it was trailering in Michigan to attending formal functions when Dad was mayor, they did so together.  It was fitting that when our beloved First Lady passed, she did so while lying beside her loving husband.  We are heartbroken to have lost this wonderful woman so quickly.  However, we are comforted in the fact that so many people have been touched by her love and kindness.  In respecting Dawna's wishes no services will be held.  Very special thanks to Monique Kevill and her staff of 3C.  They took care of absolutely everything.  And finally, we would wish to thank Maddie and Jenn, our guardian angels who travelled this journey with mom and dad to the very end. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to A.R.C.H, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Parkinson Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522).
