Joy Ella Edith MacMillan passed away in the early morning of Friday, November 29th, 2024, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was a loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished daughter and sister throughout the entirety of her life. Her unwavering dedication to her family, especially her children and grandchildren, was the center of her world.
Joy was loved by her children Daniel and Carly for her sense of humor, resourcefulness, and warmth. They admired and always looked to emulate her fierce strength and resilience. She enjoyed making people laugh, especially her grandchildren Jackson and Emily. Joy was also the perfect pup parent to her dog Krash, a 14-year-old long hair terrier and poodle mix.
Joy derived a lot of fulfillments from her service to others, which is why she was a passionate and well remembered server. Many of Joy’s regular customers would build bonds with her over time and would even follow her throughout her career just to stay connected. Despite all the hardships she faced throughout her life, Joy helped her family and friends when it counted most.
She spent her life enjoying the excitement and beauty of music; you could often find Joy rocking out to ACDC or Nick Gilder with the dial cranked. Joy was a force to be reckoned with, but she had a kind spirit that could be felt by all who loved her.
Joy never met a stranger, and she is survived by a large group of friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Joy’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Cancer Society, Grand River Cancer Centre, and the Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care shown to Joy and her family.
