It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom and nana at Algoma Residential Community Hospice surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

She was the beloved wife of the late Pasquale and adored mother of Emilia, the late Joseph (Joe), Ivana and Ian Smith, Peter and Carmela. Nana to the joy of her life, her granddaughter Kimberly.

She was the youngest of the nine children born to the late Maddalena and Scipione Provenzano. She is survived by her sister Tina DeGregorio (late Sebastiano) of Belgium and predeceased by Rosaria Palarchio (late Luigi), Esterina Pino (late Alberto), Linda Meraglia (late Giovanni), Dora Pagliaro (late Gesualdo), Gioconda Meraglia (late Lorenzo), Giuseppe (late Carmela) and Angelo (late Matilde).

Daughter-in-law of the late Emilia and Giuseppe Maione. Sister-in-law of the late Luisa Monturo (late Arturo), late Concetta Pantano (Paolo), and Rosina Bevacqua (late Eugenio).

She will be missed and fondly remembered by the her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews with whom she loved spending time and sharing stories.

Widowed at a young age mom sacrificed so much to ensure we had the life both her and our father wished for their family when they immigrated to Canada. Mom was nurturing, loving and always put our needs before her own. She was there to share all the happy moments and there to console us when we needed a shoulder to cry on. We know that her wisdom, strength, courage and love will continue to comfort, guide and protect us.

We would sincerely like to thank all the health care team that cared for mom, especially Dr. Karen Booth, Jennifer Hendrie (Group Health Centre Nurse), Jennifer and Kim (nurses from Bayshore Home Health Care) and Sarah Deschenes (mom’s PSW and friend for the past six years). We are truly grateful for the care and compassion shown to mom and our whole family by the wonderful nurses and staff at ARCH.

Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 12:30 pm.  Entombment Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum.

Memorial donations payable by cheque can be made to ARCH or the charity of your choice.

Rest In Peace with the angels in God’s heavenly garden together with daddy and Joe. We will carry your love in our hearts forever.❤️
