It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Donald Martin on July 5, 2021, at the age of 70, at the Sault Area Hospital. Loving spouse of Judy Bird. Loving father of Tanya Martin (James Clark). Formerly married to Penny Martin, mother of Tanya. He will be remembered by Judy’s son Darrin (Connie).
Adored grandfather of Jasmine Clark (Greig Lethbridge), Danny Clark and Michelle Clark. Don was a soon to be great grandfather who he was excited for.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph Martin and Evelyn (Reed). Brother of Maryann Martin, Jim Martin (Jennifer), Ross Martin, Keith Martin (Becky), Vicky Hobson (Guy) and Donna Reid (Barry). Don also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Don was well known as a long-haul truck driver for over 40 years. Don was small but mighty, many of his close friends called him ‘Popeye’.
Don will be forever missed by his coffee friends. It was a daily routine in retirement. Don also had the opportunity to winter in Florida. He enjoyed his time there and leaves behind many good friendships.
A special thank you to Dr. Lam for her support during treatments and SAH Emergency room staff for their care and compassion. The family would also like to express their gratitude to all staff for accommodating their wishes to say a final farewell. Cremation and a private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.
