MARTINOW, Yvonne Antoinette “Toni”

Posted

Passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at the age of 79 with her loving daughter, Carol, by her side at the Plummer Memorial Hospital. Beloved wife of the late George Martinow. Cherished mother of the late Tony, Georgette Pauker (Greg), and Carol Sweeney (Kelly). Adoring grandmother of Magnolia Pauker, Shay and Erin Sweeney. As a young woman Toni worked as printer’s devil, part of the only all-women newspaper team in North America, on the Bridge River-Lilloet News for “Ma” Murray. After retiring she enjoyed traveling, particularly to Mexico where she became fluent in Spanish. Before relocating to Sault Ste. Marie, Toni spent a number of years volunteering at the Queen Victoria Hospitals’ Extended Care Unit in Revelstoke, B.C. She was a guardian angel to many patients who needed help in daily living and was an advocate for their needs. She always had a cheery smile and a kind word for all. Her helping hands will be missed by many. Friends may call at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 11 a.m. for a mass to celebrate Toni’s life. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Dance with the angels Mom. We miss you and love you Mom and Gram. Memorial contributions can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 759-2522.
