"Tiny" passed away peacefully with Susan by his side on July 12th, 2005 at the McCausland Hospital. Ken was born at McKellar Hospital in Fort William, on January 27, 1948. He attended Franklin St. School, and when his family moved to Schreiber, he went to Schreiber High School. He attended Soo College, Sault Ste. Marie, studying Geology and made many special friends. He later went to Ranger School in New Brunswick to study Forestry. Ken was not idle and worked at many jobs, including being a volunteer ambulance driver, delivering flowers for his Mother, working on the highways for his Father at the M.T.O., and being" Smokey the Bear", the "Lion" and "Santa". He worked with the M.N.R. for many years in fire and later in lands. He was currently employed with Neenah Paper, Terrace Bay on shift 3, with a great group of people. During his life, he was actively involved in the Cub Scout Movement, photography, motorcycles, and was an avid collector of music, books hockey cards and Coke memorabilia. He loved the community of Schreiber/Terrace Bay and was actively involved in the Lions Club and the Tourism Committee for as long as he was able. Ken will always be lovingly remembered by his best friends and family: Susan Merkley and Alex, Robin and Cheryl, Chris, Delores, Mallory and Thomas, Karen and Josh, his Aunt Marg and Uncle Rollie Gander, Clark, Terry, Joyce, Jennifer, and Jason. Ken is survived by his older brother James, (Alice) and their family, James Jr, Jo-Lynn, Lennie, Robbie, and Kamryn, Janice, Jacqueline and Greg: Judy, Ed, and Cory: John, Jodi, Janey, and Johanna, and many aunts and uncles. He was pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Mary, his grandparents and aunts and uncles. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. A graveside service was held at the Terrace Bay Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005. Ken loved life and Ken loved people and he will always be with us.
