MATTHEWS, Raymond Melville

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family at Extendicare Maple View  on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the age of 88.  Beloved husband of Audrey Matthews (nee Skagen) for 68 years.  Predeceased by his parents Melville and Vera Matthews and Audrey's parents Anna and Charles Skagen.  Loving father of Wendie Disano (Johnnie), Stephen (Pina), Janie Capancioni (Eric), Mike (Roberta) and Tracy Behrens (Roy).  Proud grandpa of Carli Disano, Joel Disano, Alexander Matthews, Rob Capancioni, Marc Capancioni (Jen), Alyssa Katagis (Peter), Jami Dellavedova (Nick) and Mitchell Behrens; great-grandfather of Luciana Capancioni, Maximus Katagis and Baby Katagis.  Dear brother of late Gerry (Matilda), late Marilyn (died in childhood), Verina “Nan” Crema and Ruth-Anne Fleury (Claude); Survived by sister-in-law Marilyn Matthews and brother-in-law Alf Crema; predeceased by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lil Dalley (Mel), Clarence Skagen (Mae), Stan Skagen (Lucy), Norman Skagen, Ray Skagen (Edna), Doreen Zeppa (Eddie) and Charlie Skagen (survivied by Lorraine and late Alice).  Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.  Special thank you to all the staff of Maple View Goulais Bay and Pathways Retirement Home for their care and compassion.  Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E., 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.  Funeral service in the chapel at 3:00 pm followed by cremation.  Memorial donations (payable by cheque) to Residence Council at Extendicare Maple View would be appreciated by the family.
