MATTHEWS, Vera May

(May 1, 1931 - May 14, 2019) - Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the age of 88.  Beloved wife and best friend of the late Elwood for 69 years.  Loving mother of Darryle Matthews, E. Blaine Matthews (Lucy) and Michael Matthews (Rhonda).  Cherished grandmother of April Lindemann (Aaron), Michael Matthews, Emily Matthews (Branden Staaine) and Kayle Matthews.  Great grandmother of Charlotte and Adeline Lindemann.  Predeceased by her siblings Reginald McClelland, Annie McClelland, John McClelland (late Dorothy), Minnie Vipond (late Stewart), Kay Dimma (late Bruce) and Betty Barkley (late Warren).  Sadly missed by nieces and nephews, especially Ruth and Frank Robinson and family.  As per Vera's wishes, a private funeral service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).  Mrs. Helen Smith officiated.  Interment to be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Gordon Lake.  Special thank you to Ruth Robinson for her caring and assistance.  Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to A.R.C.H. or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.  The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses for the compassionate care given at the Sault Area Hospital.
