MAY, Olive Ethel (nee Risley)

In loving memory of Olive Ethel May (nee Risley), 82 years of Extendicare Falconbridge, who passed away Friday evening, March 12th, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital – St. Josephs Health Centre. She was born in Ilford, Essex, England and married George May in 1945 in England. Olive had been a longtime Gatchell resident moving to the Sudbury area in 1976 from Thessalon. She faithfully attended St. Anthony’s Church with her daughter. Always quick to help others she had been a volunteer at the Sudbury General Hospital for 12 years. She had been a member of Club III and the War Brides of Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 182, Thessalon. An avid knitter, her creations are treasured by relatives and friends. Olive will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Beloved wife of George May predeceased 1976. Loving mother of James (partner Candy Westlack) of Oshawa, Joyce (husband Alfredo Carniel) and Olive (husband Roger Lavergne) both of Sudbury, Shirley (husband Lino Sabaz) of Thunder Bay, George (wife Cathy) and Stephen both of Sudbury and David predeceased 1959. Cherished grandmother of David and Sharon May, Kari May, Jim May Jr., and Jennifer Pasodas, Maddalena and Rick Stepancich, Giovanni and Dale Carniel, Franca Carniel, Paul Berthelette, Ellena and Darren Hodder, Roxane Lavergne and Steve White, David and Jodi Lavergne, Pauline Lavergne and Chris Salo, Adam Sabaz and Carys Knough, Michael Sabaz, Clinton, Jason, Cody and Kyle May, Jacob and Dillon May, Aaron Pike; great grandchildren Emerson and Gianfranco Carniel, Emma and Lily Stepancich, Jordan Vocaturo, Gavin Salo, Olivia White, Nolan Berthelette and David Lavergne. Dear daughter of George and Daisey (Stain) Risley predeceased. Dear sister of Kathy Waters of England and Joan Martineau of Nelson B.C. and predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. Special aunt to John, Leslie, Deana and Terry. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Singleton predeceased. Interment in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood in the spring. Donations to St. Anthony’s Church Memorial Fund, Sudbury, or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
