It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Donalda Alice McPhail at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, December 16, 2022.
Donalda is survived by her daughter, Cathy Trimble, her son-in-law Donny, and her cherished grandchildren Owen and Joey. Predeceased by her beloved parents, Donald and Emily McPhail. She will be sadly missed by her loyal canine companion Harry. She had a special place in her heart for Adam Karvonen, who she regarded as an honorary son. She also had great fondness for the ‘neighbourhood kids’ (especially Jennifer, Wendy, and Allison), who she watched grow up and who were a part of her life into her final days.
Donalda was very active in the AA community, and will be missed by the wonderful friends she made over the years, many of whom she considered as family.
We would like to thank Leigh from Bayshore for her care and compassion in the early days of Mom’s illness. We would also like to thank the staff at ARCH for the outstanding care she received while there, with special thanks to Sophia and Penny, who my mom came to adore during her time there. You are all truly angels on earth.
Donalda’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a small, private service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation (payable by cheque or online) to ARCH in Donalda’s memory.
