It is with deep sadness that we say farewell to Debra Lynne “Debbie” Melcher, on December 20th, 2024, at the age of 66.

She was a devoted daughter to the late Elmore and the late Alvina, as well as to her stepparents, the late Jerry and the late Betty.

Debbie was a loving and cherished mother to Bobbi, and Justin (Meghan), and a proud grandmother to Tyson, Cole, Madison, Maia, Kenyon, Erron, and Adilynne, and a proud great-grandmother of Benjamin. She is also survived by her brothers, Chris (Lise) and Kevin (Lorri), her sisters, Barbara and Michelle (Steve), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.

Debbie shared an especially close bond with her sister Barb, who was not only her best friend but also a steadfast source of support throughout their lives. While Debbie had a serious side, her family always knew how to bring out her infectious laugh when she needed it most. Growing up she would sometimes surprise family members with thoughtful gifts, like Jordache and Levi's button-fly jeans. Debbie also expressed her creativity through crafting, knitting beautiful booties, hats, and mittens for the newest family members.

One of Debbie’s greatest joys was cooking, particularly her famous homemade soups. She was the go-to person for cooking advice, and her turkey gravy was unmatched. But her most enduring passion was bingo, a game she loved to play with her mother Alvina, Sister-in-law Lise, her friend Kathi from Detroit, and other beloved family members.

Debbie will be remembered with love as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt. She will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace, Debbie.

Special Thanks from the family to Dr. Febbraro, Dr. Curran, Dr. Booth, and all the staff at the ER, and ICU in the Sault Area Hospital, as well as O’Sullivan Funeral Home.

At Debbie’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of life for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
