Melchionna

(1927-2019) – It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Carmine Melchionna suddenly, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. His wish finally came true: to be reunited with the love of his life, the late Ermelinda, wife of 60 years. Best friend, confidant, teacher and dearly loved father of Marie Bruno (Tony).  Beloved Nonno of Melinda Bruno. Son of the late Maria Carolina and the late Angelo Michele Melchionna. Brother of Rocco Melchionna (late Maria Rosaria) of Sault Ste. Marie, the late Angelina Davino (late Michele), Clelia Melchionna (late Antonio), and Salvatore Melchionna (Clelia) all from Sturno, Avellino, Italia. Son-in-law of the late Giuseppe and the late Rosaria Martone. Brother-in-law of Nunzio Martone (Angelina) and predeceased by Maria Carmela Flammia (late Carmine), Carmine Martone (late Maria Grazia), Vittorio Martone (late Angelina), Maria Stella Savino (late Michele), Maria Consiglia Genua (late Antonio), and Mario Martone (Virma). Zio Carmine will be missed by his many nieces, and nephews especially Lena Cipriano, Angela Alagia, Connie Pilot and Ida Ceresoli. Carmine was a proud survivor of World War II and made a tough decision to better his life by coming to Canada. He had a long career working for Algoma Central Railway. Upon retirement, Carmine enjoyed making and sharing wine, sausages and bread. You could always find him tending to his vegetable garden early in the morning or late at night. Carmine was a carpenter by trade and loved to build things and was always tinkering with something. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at Precious Blood Cathedral on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Hamish Currie officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to The Journey (Precious Blood Cathedral), SAH Renal Dialysis Care Fund, SAH Cancer Care Fund, FJ Davey Home Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Dr. Philip Catania, Dr. Silvana Spadafora, Dr. Mir Shafiee, Dr. Michele Cheong and Dr. Nicki Apostle for taking care of Carmine over the years with kindness and compassion. Words cannot express our thanks to his extended family, the nurses, PSW’s and staff at the FJ Davey Home Driftwood 2 for their compassion and dignified care of Carmine.

“You shall live in the hearts of those who loved
you and will thus never die or be forgotten.”

Rest in Peace e va con Dio.
