(1933-2017) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ermelinda Melchionna (Martone) peacefully, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 with her family by her side at the F.J. Davey Home.  She now walks in the company of her Lord.  Adored and much loved by her husband of 60 years, Carmine Melchionna.  Best friend and mama of Marie (Tony) Bruno.  Beloved nanna of Melinda Bruno. Ermelinda was born in Frigento, Avellino, Italia on May 15, 1933 to the late Rosaria and late Giuseppe Martone. Much loved sister of Nunzio (Angelina) Martone.  Predeceased by her brothers and sisters, late Maria Carmela (late Carmine) Flammia, late Carmine (Maria Grazia) Martone, late Vittorio (late Angelina) Martone, late Maria Stella (late Michele) Savino, late Maria Consiglia (late Antonio) Genua, and late Mario (Virma) Martone. Daughter-in-law of the late Maria Carolina and late Angelo Michele Melchionna.  Cherished sister-in-law of Rocco (late Maria Rosaria) Melchionna, from Sturno, Avellino, Italia, the late Angelina (late Michele) Davino, Clelia (Antonio) Melchionna, and Salvatore (Clelia) Melchionna. Zia Melinda will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Surviving the war, and as an Italian immigrant, Ermelinda embraced the offerings of this new land by working at Weyerhaeuser Ltd. for 32 years.  While always remembering her roots as a longtime member of the Elettra Marconi Society, she was known for her abundant baking and cooking.  She loved to exercise and spend time at the YMCA, and could be seen riding her three-wheeled bike everywhere. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass celebrated from Precious Blood Cathedral on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Hamish Currie officiating.  Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial contributions to Precious Blood Cathedral Journey, Sault Area Hospital, F.J. Davey Home, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Wayne Boissineau for his time and care, to Dr. Philip Catania, Sault Area Hospital staff and 3C nurses, CCAC and WeCare staff for taking care of Ermelinda over the years with love and kindness.  Words cannot express our thanks to Dr. Luke Fera and the nurses and staff of F.J. Davey Home Driftwood 2 and Cedar 2 for their compassion and dignity of caring for Ermelinda during her final chapter of life.

“You shall live in the hearts of those who loved you, and will thus never die or be forgotten”.  Rest in Peace.
