It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Alex Ménard on Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Golden Birches Terrace, Blind River at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Alice Ménard. Dear father of Paul (Julie) of Haileybury, Richard (Debbie) of Blind River, Madeleine Handforth (Doug) of Kingston, Gisèle Anderson (Billy) of Sault Ste. Marie and the late Noël. Dear grandfather of Michelle Ménard, Richard and Samantha Ménard, Alexandre, Nicolas and Geneviève Handforth and Aaron, Chantal and Justin Anderson. Also survived by 2 great grandchildren Jordan and Noah. Dear brother of Marguerite Laviolette, Maurice (Jeannette), Eugène (Monique), Pierrette and the late Roland, Jeanne, Gérald, Jean, Yvonne, Cécile, Thérèse and Vivian. Alex owned and operated the Ménard's Department Store in Blind River from 1942 until its closing in 1976. Friends may call at the Menard Funeral Home, Blind River Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass to be held Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from Paroisse Ste Famille with Sr. Bernadette Paquette officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Blind River. Donations to a charity of you choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
