The family of George Mersereau announces the peaceful passing of their father on Sunday June 5, 2022 at the F.J. Davey Home.

George is now reunited with his wife Sylvia and their son Bradley (Simone). Devoted father of Brent Mersereau (Bonnie), Blaine Mersereau (Pierrette Sorenson Mersereau), Tracey McClelland (Tom).  Cherished grampa to Adam (Krista), Zachary, Alicia, Joshua, Rhys (Jaci Mersereau), Seychelle (Colin Godbout), Alistair (Marie Eve Dessureault), Jacqueline (Alastair Hibberd), Emma (Patrick Yearwood), Morgan (Sam Stange), Brittany (Chris Hales), Brianna (Sean Plumley), Emily (Taylor Servais). Great Grampa of Gillian, Cooper, Ethan, Bradley and Arden.  Survived by his brother Bill (Clara), and now reunited with his siblings Skipper, Karen, Edythe, Lynne and his parents Weldon and Vera.

Dad retired from the Ministry of Natural Resources as an Aircraft Engineer where he mastered his craft repairing bush planes and prepping them for fire season. Dad was a proud Mason and belonged to the Algoma Lodge # 469 where he attained the level of Right Worshipful. The family would like to thank Dan Raycroft in assisting in the organization of the Masonic Service for our father. Time spent at camp with family and friends held a special place in his heart.

George lived his last 2 years on Driftwood 2nd floor at the F.J. Davey Home. The staff became his friends and family especially during COVID. My father would often say “you can’t get any better care than in here Trace”. For this our family is forever grateful for the loving care that he received. We thank each and everyone from nursing staff, cherished PSW’s, Activity, Dietary, Physio, Housekeeping. All of you made him smile and put up with his teasing.  Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful and compassionate care our father received from the SAH Emergency staff.  A big thank you to Don Jackson (late Fran) for being such a great best friend to George and standing by our dad’s side until the very end.

We will miss you dad, give mom and Brad a big hug for us.
