She lived and she loved.

Our dear mother, Aljesa, passed away at the F. J. Davey home on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of the late Fred Michaud.  Predeceased by her parents Raffaele and Maria (nee Marino) Oliverio.  Cherished sister of the late Angelina Oliverio, late Lenora Fisico (late Joseph), late Enis Laity (Norman), the late Reverend Angelo Oliverio.  She is survived by her deeply loved brother Frankie (Aimee) Oliverio of Kitchener, ON.

Left to mourn her loss are her children Steven (Susan) Michaud, the late William Michaud, the late Christine Luhtanen, Margaret (Eric) Strom and Jim (Patricia) Michaud.  Our mother delighted in being called “Grandma Jesa” by her ten grandchildren Christopher (Siobhan) Michaud, Colleen (Joshua) Mayer, Patricia (Steve) Porco, Nicholas Luhtanen, Robert Michaud, Adam Strom, Erica (Matthew) Nogalo, Neil (Laura) Strom, Mariah (Malcolm) O’Brien and James Michaud.  Proud great-grandmother of thirteen; Justin, Colin, Cambrie, Eislea, Emily, Tyler, Mila, Dean, Eva, Alice, Oliver, Harper and Tessa.  Caring aunt to Carmen Fisico, Don Laity, Alan Laity, Mary-Lou Muschik, Tom Oliverio, Mary Oliverio and respective families.

In 1949, Aljesa graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary’s School of Nursing of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and spent most of her career in various wards at the General Hospital. She gave witness to her exemplary nursing skills and the gift of compassion to each person she encountered.   A humble woman of incredible strength and wisdom, she touched many lives.  Her gifts were many and her energy and commitment were to be admired.  Our mother planted the seeds of faith, nourished them and gave witness to them by offering others’ needs in prayer.  She molded us in living our faith, valuing family traditions, instilled respect and commitment and gave selflessly to others. She has blessed us with the gift of family and we are grateful for having our loving “Ma” with us for so many years.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the 3rd floor staff of Cedar Grove at the F.J. Davey Home for their outstanding care and compassion.  Family and friends are invited to visit Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6 pm until 9 pm.  Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Gerard Majella Parish on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 1 pm. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating.
