MILANO, Raffielina (Maria)

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Raffielina in her 97th year at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, August 26, 2017 with her children by her side. The Good Lord gently placed his arms around her and released her beautiful soul from her very tired body. Raffielina was born in Alife Caserta, Italy to Giovanni and Maria Sista Coluni. Devoted wife to the late Frank Milano. Amazing mother of Lina Plastino, Angelo Milano and Marisa Gosselin (Doug). Cherished Nonna of Ralph Plastino, Amie Middleton (Scott), Jennifer Sloss (Bill), Lisa Smith (Mike), Vicki Milano, Christopher Farrell (Ashley), Melanie Farrell (Ryan) and Johnathan Farrell (Jacqueline). Great Nonna of Owen, Silas, Emily, James, Brady, MacKenzie, Gavin, Sarah, Gabriella, Billy and Madison. Raffielina is predeceased by her brothers and sisters in Italy and Canada and by her sisters-in-law Auristela Lubertino (late Giuseppe), Concettina Di Baia (late Salvatore). She is survived by her sisters-in-law Ida Coluni (late Luigi), Italia Borraro (late Ted) and Marcolina Milano (late Oreste) and by her brother-in-law Sisto Milano (Norisa). Raffielina will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and the United States. Raffielina took many a young bride who immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie under her wing and shared her knowledge with them. She lovingly crocheted baby blankets for all the newborn babies. She was a wonderful cook and there was always a place at the table for anyone that stopped by at any time day or night. She loved to garden and plant vegetables and flowers. She had a special love of white flowers. Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard Majella Church at 1 pm. Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Febbraro, Dr. Melissa Hemy, Dr. Paul Gupta, Dr. Doug Bignell, Dr. Sam Fratesi, Kathy Palombi, Wayne Chorney, Elaine Angelic, Lillian Sherrard and Anne Marie Dupuis. A very special thank you to the amazing staff on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital for the great care, love, respect and compassion shown to Maria and her family.
