May 30, 1945 – January 27, 2023

Murray Monk, of Hurkett Ontario, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Hanover Ontario to the late Alfred and Wilma (Sachs) Monk, he was recently predeceased by his brother Ev, Everek Monk (Gail) of Hanover Ontario. Murray, beloved husband of Rebecca (Becky) Monk, is survived sons Nathan (Kaitlyn) Monk, of Nipigon and Luke Monk of Thunder Bay, and his sisters Doris (Larry) Milligan of Allen Park, Susan McDermott of Milton and Kathleen (Doug) Monk-Hocking of Exeter.

A long-time friend to all Canadian trappers, Murray was proud to be elected, then re-elected to represent those trappers.

His powerful voice, now silenced, will echo forever in the tremendous gains he was able to negotiate for Ontario’s trappers.

His deeply held conviction that a person lives on in the hearts and minds of those he was privileged to encourage in this life, will ensure his memory lives on among us always.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ontario Fur Managers Federation’s Heritage Trapping Fund (www.furmanagers.com).

A Celebration of Life will be held May 6, 2023, from 11:30-1:30 at the Hurkett Community Center (110 Hwy 582, Hurkett, Ontario).
