It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Morano at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the age of 72.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 47 years and best friend Luise (nee Kuskowicz). Devoted father to Michael (Roxanne Finkelstein), Christopher (Sarah Templeton), and Sarah (Douglas Williams). Ken was a proud grandpa to Isabel and Norah Morano, Lauren and Nigel Morano, and Mhari Williams. Predeceased by his parents Ken Sr. and Margaret (Peggy) Morano, and in-laws John and Mary Kuskowicz. Cherished older brother to Randy (Kirsti), Jennifer Morano-Kainula (Ken), and infant sister Wendy (predeceased 1953). Dear brother-in-law of Roman and Alicja Kuskowicz, Irene (late Helmut) Brandstetter, and Theresa (late Doug) Gregory. Ken will be remembered and missed by his nieces, nephews, and friends.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ken received a B.A. in economics from the University of Western Ontario, and shortly after became a Certified General Accountant. He joined Algoma Steel as project assistant in 1974, became assistant treasurer in 1977, and treasurer in 1980. Ken and a partner began their own pension consulting firm in 1986, where Ken stayed until his retirement in 2014. Ken was an active member of the Sault North Rotary Club, where he enjoyed working with the Youth Exchange Program as a local Youth Exchange Officer, as District 6290 Chairman, and later as Central States Rotary Correspondent for Australia and Southern Africa. Ken was humbled to be named a Paul Harris Fellow, a designation bestowed upon him by the exchange students under his charge. Ken was also a proud member of St. Jerome Parish, where he enjoyed volunteering and being a part of the church community. Ken had a love for travel, an interest in genealogy, a taste for fine Scotch, and a penchant for good (and bad) jokes and one-liners.

Family and friends are invited to visit Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 6 pm until 9 pm. Funeral Mass held from St. Jerome's Parish on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11 am. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to Parkinson Canada or to St. Jerome Parish would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the Sault Area Hospital nurses and care providers on 3C, and to Drs. Bishop, Imbeau, and Booth for the excellent care and compassion provided to Ken. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Morano family.
