With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Evelyn (Chevy) Ann Morrison (nee Sedor) on November 4th, 2024, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

While her passing was expected, her loss leaves a huge hole in many hearts.

She is reunited with her husband Gerald (Red), her parents Alick Sedor and Ethel (Pam) Himpfen, her sister Sharron Kirkpatrick, her daughter-in-law Betty Harmon, and her furry grand-dog Harley. Her children Carolyn, Glenn, and his partner Susan will miss her terribly. Her loss will be felt deeply in the hearts of her grandchildren Shandon and Braydon. She was also aunt to Shaun, Wade, and Sherilyn, and great-aunt to their children. She was also proud of the achievements of her great-grandchildren.

She was born in Fort William Ontario, now called Thunder Bay, on August 1st, 1946. When she was still a teenager, her mother, her sister and she relocated to Toronto.

Twice married, Chevy, as she preferred to be called, worked a number of jobs over the course of her life and moved often. Along the way, she adopted many animals, saving the lives of ponies, turtles, various dogs and cats, and even a weasel. She, Red, and their children relocated to Searchmont, Ontario in June of 1989.

Chevy was an avid reader, a skilled knitter, and a baker with a reputation for the biggest cinnamon rolls Northern Ontario had ever seen. In her younger years, she was known for her sewing skills, making many of her family’s clothes when her children were young. She was witty, sarcastic, and appreciated a well-turned pun. She was always quick to knit for expected babies, family, friends, and even the folks at her favourite pharmacy. Her knitting pattern collection was legendary.

Her family would like to thank all the nurses at the Renal Clinic in the Sault Area Hospital for their care, and especially Nikki for her light-hearted antics that always kept Chevy’s spirits up. We would also like to thank Michelle for her support of Chevy during her final days. We cannot thank Elaine Haskell enough for her dedication, steadfastness, loyalty, and caring.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the staff and volunteers at ARCH Hospice, who made her final days more comfortable, and by extension, helped her family make peace with the inevitable. We ask that you join us in donating to ARCH in Chevy’s memory, and help them continue to assist others. Our mother, grandmother, and guiding light would want us all to be kind to one another, and make a difference in someone else’s life if we could.

No funeral will be held, but a celebration of life will be announced soon.
