It is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather on Saturday July 15, 2023 in Elliot Lake, Ontario at the age of 70 years. Pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Mary (nee O’Neil) Murphy, Mike is survived by wife Diane Murphy (nee Desjardins), children Steven Murphy (Heidi), Maryanne Murphy-Johnson (Cory) and grandchildren Claire, Emily, Olivia, Zoey & Colton. Brother of the late Patrick “Paddy” Murphy (Jane), Susan Stewart (Thomas “Tom”) and uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Mike will also be missed by his devoted fur baby Maggie. Cremation has taken place and a graveside committal service will be held at Woodlands Cemetery, Elliot Lake on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Hampton Inn (Maple Room). Memorial contributions to the St. Joseph’s Foundation of Elliot Lake (Oncology Renovation Project) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
