(October 16, 1928 – May 26, 2019) – With her son by her side, Gertrud passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife of the late Hans for 56 years. Much loved mother of Gerhard, Sonja (Keith) and the late Cornelia (Robert). Cherished Oma (Grandmother) of Alexander. Sister of Rosel Zastrow, Bertchen Handke, Hannelore Klapproth and predeceased by her twin brother Kurt Thiel, and Heinz Thiel in Germany. Gertrud will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Connie Nehr Legacy Endowment Fund at the Ottawa Hospital Foundation (737 Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa K1Y 1J8) or the Sault Area Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
