With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Theresa Mary Newman only two short days after her 76th birthday. Former spouse of the late Irwin Newman, beloved mother of Vicky Mcgarry (Dave), Joseph Newman (Stacey), Jason Newman (Keirsten), Bridget Maitland (Joe), and fur babies Ruby, Harry, and Smoky. Special grandmother to Jamie, Grace, Daniel, Collin, Sean, Samantha, Jason, Marc, Blake, Brandon, and Kirsten. Survived by siblings Lorraine Meawasige (late Ivan), Georgina Selberg (Larry), Ernie Vincent (Angèle), and reunited with her siblings Irene, Betty, Edward, Mary Jane, baby Bernadette, Phillip, Alfred, Mary, Dorothy, Joe, Bill, Rita, Clara, and Johnny. A lifelong friend to Pat and Fred Folz, Jean and Gerry Dumas, Gail Campbell, and Carla Dicks. Theresa was a woman who was always connected to her traditional roots. She loved nature and could often be found hunting, fishing, and fulfilling her obsession with berry picking. She frequently travelled and her friendly nature helped her to build strong friendships wherever she went. She was always a hard worker and had a difficult time sitting still so she continued to work until her retirement at the age of 75. She worked at numerous lodges, motels, restaurants and more until she finally landed a position with Harte Gold Corp for her last few years of employment. She was a kind and gentle soul who was there when needed without hesitation. She will be missed by many. A celebration of Theresa’s life is being planned for this spring and will take place at the Prince Township Hall.
