In 1959, the family immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie.  Ritva worked and studied here until moving to the States in 1966 with her husband and newborn baby, returning in 1988.

Ritva is deeply missed by her daughter Melissa Warrington (Lesli), her grandsons Michael and Thomas Powers, Mathew and Ryan Warrington, her son Kevin Beamer (Paula) their daughter Emma, her brother Jorma Poranto (Ann), sister Marikka Koskela (Pennti), her nieces Minna Koskela-Wild (Paul), Esme Woltz (Brian), Tiia Perschmann (Sven)and their children.

Our thanks to the 2nd floor Driftwood Beach staff at the F. J. Davey Home for their kindness and care.

Ritva was unique and lived life, authentically.  A strong woman, we always knew where she stood. She loved the simple things in life, and that rubbed off on all of us. She had a wonderful sense of style and a keen eye for finding treasures. A creative soul, she shared eco friendly gifts and handicrafts with us all. Each one a reflection of her kind and generous spirit. She loved time in nature, the trails, a good ski run, her own quiet time, classical music and time shared with family.  For over twenty years, she enjoyed working as a ward clerk in the busy SAH Emergency Department. A passionate gardener, with a truly green thumb she kept beautiful wild gardens. She also reminded us all to take the scenic route and stop and smell the flowers. She created a great life for herself and all those around her.  We miss you dearly, Ritva.

Cremation has taken place. Should you choose to donate in Ritva's memory, she supported the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. -705-759-2522).
