It is with indescribable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Lydia on May 27, 2022.  Lydia Oktaba died peacefully in her sleep at home.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Lydia was the daughter of Emilia and the late Walter Oktaba and the sister of Irene Oktaba.

By profession, she was a caring and compassionate Occupational Therapist, beloved by her patients.  Above all, she was the best caregiver for our Mother.

Lydia had an adventurous spirit, loving to travel and to take spur-of-the-moment trips.  She had many interests:  to name a few, writing short stories, creating delicious meals, baking a variety of prize-winning cheesecakes and dancing.  Every Christmas, she looked forward to attending Swan Lake ballet performances. She was also passionate about animals and their well-being.

Friends may visit St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church (293 St. Georges Avenue East) on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Hayes officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations (payable by cheque) may be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church or to an animal rescue of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.

"We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain.
To walk with us throughout our lives,
Until we meet again."
