Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Beloved husband of Joy (nee Shields) for 57 years. Loving father of Christopher, Susan Burgan, and John. Loving grandpa of Elizabeth and Ian Burgan. Special "Dad" to Joy's daughter Carol Gladwell (John) and grandpa Dan to Alex Gladwell (Brea Faulkner) and Laura Gladwell (Carl Schilde). Brother of Margaret Rae, Ruth Vallis, Donald (Huguette), late Marshall (Jen), late Grace Harvey (Bill), late Lois VanMarken, late David and Kenneth (Norah). Predeceased by his parents William and Olive Rae. Brother-in-law of the late Donald Shields (Dorothy) and the late Allan Shields (Jeanne). Dan will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may gather at Emmanuel United Church on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Nancy Ferguson officiating.
