RAINONE, Hazel Violet May (September 26, 1925 - September 7, 2023) - "A life well lived - a lady well loved." After almost 98 years gracing this earth, we regret to announce the passing of our kind and loving mother Hazel Violet May Rainone (nee Kilby).

She is finally reunited with her beloved husband Mike Rainone Sr. after 39 years apart. Much loved mother of Michael Jr. (Carrie), Terry (Bobbi-Jo), Jacquelyn Watson (Scott), and Carolyn. Adored Grandma of Cathy (Janet), Terrance (Rachel), Lee Slater (Elise Orlando), Kristen Comegna (Chris), Tricia (Giulian DeLuzio), Melinda McGregor (Mark), and Megan Scott (Andrew). Beloved Grandma Rainone of numerous great and great-great grandchildren.  Cherished mother-in-law of Anne Rainone.  Daughter of the late William and Lillian Kilby. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses Fred, Reta, Bill, Jack, Mary, Betty, Iris, and survived by her youngest brother Ken Kilby. Also predeceased by her brothers- and sister-in-laws of the Rainone clan.  Adored Auntie Hazel to numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom loved the time spent with her nephew Brad Nicholas (Alex), who always took the time to visit her, even if it meant climbing brick walls and clinging to window sills for Covid window visits. Fondly remembered by our childhood friends from the Pine Street neighbourhood where Mom lived for 73 years. She loved visits from the youngest members of the family and one of her greatest pleasures in her later years was watching the children in the playground at the school across the street.  Our parents were both kind and compassionate and we are left to carry on their legacy as best we can. "To live in Hearts we leave behind is not to die"

Special thanks to Janet, Rachel, Phyllis and all the staff on 1B that kept Mom comfortable in her final days. Your care and compassion is appreciated more than you know.

A private funeral service will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Rainone family.
