February 20, 1938 – August 9, 2023

Passed away peacefully in her home with her loving daughter by her side. She is reunited with her beloved husband Michael, and her parents and sisters. Cherished mother of Karen (Mark), Inger and Brinda (Ted). Loving grandmother of Gemma and Maura McGregor. Sister of Lone Dykshoorn (Paul). She will be dearly missed by her friends, neighbours and furbaby, Diego.

Viva was a wonderful and loving mother who was always willing to support her daughters in all their endeavours. She made time for her girls. Most memorable was afternoon coffee time where together as a family they discussed world issues, current ideas and solved the daily problems of life.

Viva was an extremely talented artisan. She loved to cook, make preserves, bake, knit and crochet always in the context of providing for her family and making sure there was plenty of everything to share. She was generous and thoughtful and willing to share her homemade food and creations with others.

She was cultured and enjoyed the arts, theater and ballet. A deeply religious person who practiced her faith daily. She embraced the cultures of other groups and was comfortable with experiencing a diversity of foods and traditions.

Throughout her life, Viva always showed love and respect to others and her family, and we always tried to give that back to her.

P.S. We love you Mom, and we miss you!

The family wishes to thank the O.P.P officers, the EMS Paramedics, The Venerable Roberta Wilson-Garrett as well as friends and neighbours for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to a charity of their choice.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Viva at Menard Funeral Home, 72 Lakeside Avenue, Blind River on Friday, August 18, 2023, beginning at 11am with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. The Venerable Roberta Wilson-Garrett officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Menard Funeral Home.
