It is with profound sadness we the honoured children of “PA”, Rosario Sicoli announce his peaceful and quiet passing on October 21, 2018. Shortly after celebrating his 90th Birthday. A very independent and gentle soul, Rosario will be always remembered for his friendliness, quick smile and quick step. Rosario will be sadly missed by children Rosetta (David), Mauro (James), Franca (Aldo) and by his adopted McComb grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers, many nieces, nephews and relatives in Italy and Argentina and his wonderful and caring neighbours Ray and Maria. And by his beloved cat Marco (Marcuzzo) they were inseparable. On Sunday October 21st, while preparing for weekly mass the Lord called on Rosario to come to Him and celebrate. Thus reuniting his beloved Maria, his late wife of over 60 years and the greatest joy of his life; his cherished and adorable granddaughter Lucia. Pa’s incredible faith and commitment to the Church was the foundation for his kindness, love and respect for all. We his children would like to extend a profound thank you to City Transit, the bus drivers were always so kind and thoughtful that dad considered you friends. His gardening, which he so loved, was more so for his family and neighbours to enjoy than himself. Although Pa planted many hot pepper plants he grew them for our enjoyment and proudly grew enough basil to provide the restaurant and the Marconi with fresh pesto. Celebrating the true immigrant experience Rosario came to Canada in 1961, alone, to find employment, purchase the family home and set forth the path to realize the “Canadian Dream” two years later joined by his loving wife and children. Rosario the energizer “Pa”, was never tired, never late and had a work ethic of which we can only aspire to. A city employee for 33 years he was so proud to have never taken any sick days. This exemplified his dedication and willingness to sacrifice to give his children what he deeply respected and so desired, the opportunity for a higher education. He respected precision, and he kept lists of everything. how many zucchini flowers he picked, how many jars they had preserved and how many trick or treaters they had had… Dad was immaculate in his public attire, in cooking and setting a table. When we were fortunate enough to have Pa cook we knew that we were in for a great treat, the sauce he put on for Sunday Pasta dinner…. We can now publicly state that in fact it was better than Ma’s…but that’s our secret!! Family and friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 2 until 4 pm and 6 until 8 pm. Funeral Mass to be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 1 pm. Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum. Memorial contributions to Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC), Alzheimer Society or Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
Our father didn’t tell us how to live; he lived, and let us watch him do it.
