It is with broken hearts that we announce the loss of our Dancing Queen, our Sweet Caroline, Shirley Simard (nee Lotto).  

She passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2018 surrounded by the love and adoration of her family.  Beloved wife, best friend and co-pilot for 49 years to Frank Simard.  She was the Commander and Chief for Francine and Rob DiRenzo, Brad and April Simard, and Julie and Aron Yukich.  Devoted Nani and guiding light for her girls Amanda, Amy, Abbi, Chloe and Bridget (Bird). Shirley was first daughter of Eva and Frank Lotto.  Dedicated sister and second mother to Virginia Lotto and Vince Lotto and the ever faithful auntie and godmother to Rhyan Toivonen (Lauren).  Sister in law of Ed Simard, Don and Marion Simard and Lorraine and John Harwood.  Aunt of Eddie Simard (Sherry), Michelle Palliser (Howard), Austin Simard, Sean Harwood (Becky), Danielle Kopke (Francis), David Simard (Jodi).  Shirley was the adored niece of Norma Martynuck (Johnny), Julie Russiani (Marilyn), Eldie Perlini (Freddie) and Louie Russiani (Joan) and the respected cousin of many.  

She will be greatly missed by her many precious friends, both old and new alike.  The list is far too long to mention but the love Shirley felt for you all was unmistakable.  Our family must thank our guardian angel Sarah Dunlop, the team in ICU at SAH including Melissa, Kristen, Stacey, Robin and Dr. Shaffiee.  

Finally, to Dr. Spadafora, Dr. Apostle, Dr. Ghosh and Dr. Jarrett; your care and support in this difficult time will never be forgotten.  

Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E.  – 705-759-2522) on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm.  

Funeral  Mass to be celebrated at Precious Blood Cathedral on Tuesday, November 13, 2018  at 11 am.  The Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial contributions to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or A.R.C.H.  would be appreciated.  She is our touchstone, our compass, our rock.  We will carry on with the love, respect and strength that you have passed on to all of us.
