Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2019 at FJ Davey Home in his 98th year.  Lloyd was a true gentleman who lived with integrity.  He was thoughtful, curious and loved life. Devoted husband of the late Doris (nee Eickmeier) for 67 years. Loving father of David (Anne), Wendy Payne and Jane. Proud grandfather of Drew and Kenn Sippell, Jennifer and George Payne.  Honoured father-in-law of Nicholas Payne. Son of the late Reverend William Maurice and Anna (nee Grenzebach). Brother of the late Kenneth Sippell and late Evelyn Secord (late Earl) and uncle of Robert (Nancy) and Ross (Anne) Secord.

Lloyd earned his MSc at University of Western Ontario, and his PhD in Forest Entomology from University of Michigan.  He moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1951, to pursue a career at the Great Lakes Forest Research Centre which spanned 33 years. Lloyd was made a Fellow of the Entomological Society of Canada (1980) in recognition of his contributions to the science of entomology in Canada. He was proud to have served his country in WW2.

Lloyd was a life-long member of the United Church of Canada with his roots in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. He loved puttering in his garden, doing "projects" at the cottage at Sand Bay, fishing and spending time with his family.  He will be remembered for his appreciation and passion for the beauty and wonders of the world.  We have all been touched by his warm and loving nature.

Special thanks to the staff of FJ Davey Home for their thoughtful, loving care and support during the years he made his home on “Driftwood Beach”.

Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Central United Church (160 Spring St.) at 11 am.  The Rev. Laurie Milito officiating.
