It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Spahis on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Algoma Residential Community Hospice with her family by her side at age 85.

Best friend and wife of the late George Spahis. Loving mother to Harriet Rawlings (Bob). Doting Yiayia to Lucas Sgouraditis (Jen) and Jordan Sgouraditis (Renee). Great-Yiayia to Jarrett, Brooklyn Sgouraditis and Abigail Sgouraditis. Special bonus Yiayia to Jeff Rawlings, Owen Rawlings and Payton Brown. Sister to Steve Zannetos (Maria) and Tony Zannetos (Katerina). Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Was loved by many cousins as well.

Born in Greece Stella eventually migrated to Canada where she worked as a seamstress and then eventually became a housewife. She was a resilient woman of great strength, commitment and solid work ethic second to none. She was a humble woman and lived her life with honour and dignity.

Her days at home were spent doing what she loved most, sewing, cooking, baking and gardening. You never left her house without a full belly and leftovers always to bring home. Her talent of making delicious Greek baking was unparalleled and she loved nothing more than sharing her goodies with others to enjoy. She took pride in everything she did as was evident in her obsessive perfection. Her home was immaculate, well organized and always spotless. Growing up in Greece during the war she endured hardships and suffering and was offered little education but yet was a woman of great wisdom. She was fiercely dedicated to her Greek Orthodox faith and read her bible daily even up to her last days when she succumbed to the cruelty of the cancer that took her life. We will miss her, but knowing she is not suffering anymore makes her absence bearable. Until we meet again mom, fly high with the Angels and be free and always , always look over us. We love you more than words can say. May your memory be eternal.

Many thanks to all the wonderful professionals involved in her medical care—special shout out to Maryanne from Bayshore, Faye and Trisha from Care Partners. Also to Dr. Voutsadakis, Dr. Mary Wilson and the entire SAH Cancer Clinic. To the ARCH gang— you are truly Angels. To our family and friends who were always there with constant love and support— thank you - we could not have done it without you.
