Posted

(May 18, 1930 – August 26, 2017) – Born in Opasatika, Ontario on May 18, 1930 to parents Joseph and Berthe Chevrier (née Sigouin). Lucy died peacefully at the Van Daele Manor at the age of 87 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Roy Sr. Predeceased by her eldest son Paul. Loving and doting mother and mother-in-law to Anita, Betty Thompson-Thomas (Andy), and Roy Jr. (Sara). Adored mémère of Terry Chiasson, Domenic Castro, Céleste and Kiersten Thompson. Last surviving child of Joseph and Berthe, she now joins her late sisters and brothers Elliette, Yvette, Jeannette, Jean-Léon, Rita, Gilles, Rhéal, Gaston, Miriam, Guillaume, Henri, Francine, and baby brother Paul. Special auntie (matante) to her many nieces and nephews. Lucy was a gifted pianist who played professionally in Wawa throughout the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Upon moving to the Sault in the early 1990’s she began volunteering her time playing music for many grateful residents of nursing homes in the Sault for the better part of 20 years. She was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary since the early 1950’s. She valiantly battled cancer, that horrendous scourge, for many years until she finally said, “Enough!” You have the final victory mom, you have won. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery in Wawa, Ontario next to her beloved husband Roy Sr. The family would like thank the staff of the Van Daele Manor for their care, kindness and compassion. You truly became a part of Lucy’s family over the past 17 months and we are so grateful for you. Lucy was so happy there it truly was her home. A special thank you to Dr. Richard Wytsma for the many years of care and support he provided to Lucy and the family. Memorial contributions to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 705-759-2522.
