October 23, 1939 – November 26, 2024

With deep love in our hearts but immense sadness - Jim Thomson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

Jim was born on October 23, 1939, in Thessalon, Ontario to Elva and Gerald Thomson. Jim brought joy to all who knew him and was known for his sense of adventure, his sparkling blue eyes, those dimples and a smile that could light up the room. Jim was a great conversationalist and was always up for a laugh or a hug – he gave the best hugs.

Family and friends were at the center of Jim's life. He cherished time spent with extended family at Basswood Lake or hunting and fishing with his close friends Guy Young, Floyd Honsberger and Jake Pigeon. Jim was a passionate lover of the great outdoors. He loved his machines – four wheeler and sled – but especially being in the air or on the water. He was happiest at the helm of his boat, touring family or friends around the lake.

Jim is survived by his beloved partner of 26 years, Denise Santana, his son Mark and Iryna Thomson and Stephanie (John), grandchildren Dana and Ryan, sisters Nancy Maniacco and Margie Conley and brothers-in-law Joe and Doug. He is reunited in heaven with his mom and dad, and many aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (215 St. James St.) on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, and Monday, December 2, from 12:00pm –1:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate Jim’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada in Jim's honor.
