Peacefully at the Plummer Hospital on September 16, 2005, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine (nee Spurway). He will forever be missed by his children, Beverley (Gerald) Walls, Rodney (Betty Anne), Gerald (Shelva), grandchildren, Amber (David), Matthew, Gregory and Ashley, his step-grandchildren, Gordon Walls (Vickey), Kevin Walls (Michelle) and Kim McMillan (Travis) and their families. Survived by his in-laws Glen Spurway, Orval Spurway (Gwen), Evelen Leach and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jane Elizabeth, sister, Marjorie, in-laws, John and Viola Spurway, Bess Spurway, Sheila Dawson and Sam Leach. Jack worked at Algoma Steel for 41 years, retiring in 1982, he was also an Elk Lodge member for 45 years. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 from 11am until the time of the service in the chapel at 1pm. Rev. Bruce McLeish officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Elks Oncology Van would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the nurses on the fourth floor of the Plummer Hospital. His sense of humor will never be forgotten. Members of the Elks Lodge #341 are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 10:45 am for a memorial service for the late John Torrance.
