Passed into the loving arms of his saviour on June 1st, 2018 at the Sault Area Hospital in his 85th year. He was predeceased by his parents, Ruby and Harry Townsend, and his three brothers Lloyd, Bruce, and Kenneth. Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Marie (nee Morbin). They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this coming August. He is also survived by his beloved children, George and Donna. Proud grandfather of Amy, Katie, Johnny, Andy, and Alex. Jim wired his first house for his father’s business at age 14 and later went on to operate his own business, Townsend Electric in the Sault from 1960 to 1986. He also built himself four houses and a cottage. Jim loved to play the piano and was often called upon to perform at concerts in the McLeod Public School in Lockerby. He loved to sing solos in church and in the choirs in the churches that he attended. He also loved singing with the Northland Barbershopers. He has probably found a tenor spot in the heavenly choir. At Jim’s request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. Many thanks to the Bayshore Palliative Care team and the staff at the Sault Area Hospital for the attentive care they gave to Jim over the past few weeks. Donations may be made to Parkland Baptist Church on Melville Road in Sault Ste. Marie. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (705-945-7758, 942 Great Northern Rd).
